Urgency: Nuclear
As you have heard, Governor Raimondo is working to put tolls on trucks. In fact, a toll bill was introduced at the General Assembly yesterday. But not only would tolls be bad for our state's economy, they would be a gateway to toll cars. As we know, Trucks Today, Cars Tomorrow.
Remember that shampoo commercial from the early eighties? “And they told two friends, and they told two friends, and so on, and so on." I am contacting you to ask that you take this important step in the fight against tolls.
First of all, if you have not contacted your state representative and state senator yet to tell them to vote no on tolls, please do so. See the information below for contacting your legislator.
If you have already done this - thank you! By the way, feel free to contact them again if they did not respond to you or are undecided about tolls.
Next, please send this email to two friends! Simply copy and paste this email, in its entirety, and send to two friends who may not have contacted their legislators yet. If we all take a minute to do this, we will reach most Rhode Islanders this way. And the only way we will stop tolls is to speak with a united voice.
Here is how to see where your legislator stands on tolls and how to contact them.
* To see where your own legislators stand on tolls and how they answered (or didn't!) the question, “Do you unequivocally oppose new tolls of any kind?”, go to www.stoptollsri.com. Hover over the "RI Legislators" button at the top, then choose "Rep. Responses" or "Sen. Responses".
* To call or e-mail your legislator directly, go to www.stoptollsri.com. Hover over the "RI Legislators" button at the top, then choose "Rep. Responses" or "Sen. Responses". On that page, you will find the phone number and e-mail address of your legislators.
* To send a pre-written email to your legislator, go to www.stoptollsri.com, click on “Take Action”, then click on “Email Lawmakers”. Simply fill in your address and the email will automatically be sent to your representative and senator.
* If you'd like to look up who your legislators are, go to www.stoptollsri.com, hover over the "RI Legislators" button at the top, then click on “Find Your Legislator”. This will bring you to the Secretary of State's "Rhode Island Voter Information Center", where you can fill in your information and the website will provide you the names of your state representative and senator.
Thank you for taking a stand against tolls. If we all "Tell Two Friends", we can stop this highly misguided effort to put tolls on trucks -- and, sooner rather than later, put tolls on cars!
