That's right. Our right honorable Senators and Representatives in Washington are now crafting a spending proposal designed to last 1-3 DAYS, so as to avoid the dreaded government shutdown. I thought that Congress had perfected the art of kicking the can down the road. Apparently, they can't even get that right.
I've never been one to argue against the the inherent shortsightedness of government, but this absolutely takes the cake. I mean, they haven't really been setting any records for legislation passed, so what have they been doing with their time and our money?
Oh, that's right: Campaigning, fundraising, and grandstanding. If incumbent legislators put as much time and effort into, I don't know..., legislating, as they do trying to get reelected, we might have a functional government. If incumbents spent 10% of their campaign budgets on constituent services, imagine how much more responsive they could be.
One thing's for sure, I don't see much changing when the GOP takes control of both houses.
