Many have pondered what it would take to increase voter turnout in Rhode Island. Sen. Lombardi has, by all accounts, cracked the code. You may very well get a cookie, or brownie, or pie, or cake, or any other confectionery delight that your little pre-diabetic heart can take the next time you vote! You'll have to pay for it, mind you, but COOKIES!
If you ask any person to go to a specific place and do a specific thing, they'll usually ask, "Will there be food?" Lombardi has seized on this seemingly simple premise and thinks that Parent Teacher Organizations should be allowed to sell all sorts of confections on election day at polling locations.
"I don't know about you," says Lombardi, "but I need something sweet to wash the bitter taste of the lesser-of-two-evils out of my mouth after I cast my ballot."
